Vice president unwilling to become president - July 2010 

If the presidency becomes vacant and the vice president is unwilling to serve as president, should he resign, or may he continue to serve as vice president?

Opinion:  Unless the bylaws provide otherwise, the vice president automatically becomes president as soon as a vacancy is officially recognized in the presidency. Hence, if this new president is unwilling to perform his duties, he should submit his resignation.
