President as ex-officio member of committees - August 2010
Should the president be made ex officio a member of all committees except the nominating committee?
Opinion: No. However, it may be feasible to make the president ex officio a member of all standing committees with provision that only if present shall he be counted in determining a quorum. It is not wise to make the president ex officio a member of all special committees. For example, the president should not be a member of the committee of tellers; he should not be a member of a committee to investigate charges against him; he should not be a member of the nominating committee; he should not be a member of many special minor committees.
